30 | FEBRUA RY 2017 Appliances "These new cooktops feature our latest innovations, including a brand-new touch panel that provides pre- cise power control by simply sliding your finger along the graphical surface," says Chuck Huebner, Dacor pres- ident and CEO. "This makes it easy to adjust the power on each burner, whether you're simmering a smooth béchamel or need full power for searing ahi tuna." Dacor's application of induction technology is at the core of this cutting-edge cooktop, which heats cook- ware by magnetic induction instead of a thermal con- duction by flame or an electric heating element. This direct transfer of heat results in minimal residual heat loss and a more effective, efficient cooking experience. The cooktop also includes a unique "pause" button allowing busy home chefs to conveniently pause and restart a burner with a single touch. Midland Appliance has also brought a taste of Europe to the appliance floor with a prestigious line of legendary kitchen ranges, exclusively produced to order and made to measure in a range of colours and finishes. "La Cornue is a very different French com- pany that has been manufacturing exceptional prod- ucts since 1908," says Sylvia McDonald, designer sales. "Every Château range created today is an original, indi- vidually numbered by the craftsman who created it. It is manufactured as a single unit, to order, assembled by one craftsman. This person will take as long as he or she must take to make it unique." The Château range features luxurious materials, La Cornue expertise, exclusive vaulted ovens, profes- sional burners in solid brass and a hot plate to offer uncompromised culinary performance; as good as the very best professional equipment. The original CornuFé range is available in eight clas- sic colours and three trim choices including Polished Brass, Stainless and Polished Copper. The 71-inch CornuFé features two electric convection ovens, one of which is a seven mode multifunction oven that has five powerful gas burners and one large storage drawer. Coast Appliances offers a variety of cooking options for 2017. Vijay Manik, sales associate for the compa- ny's Vancouver location, explains the options that will excite any home gourmet cook: "We have three prod- ucts, each different in their cooking methods, that can fit easily into any kitchen," Manik says. "The AEG Steam Oven provides extra moisture that improves fla- vour, texture and colour, while preserving crispness." Manik adds that the Jenn-Air Smart Oven features the Culinary Centre, which customizes the cooking cycle based on what food is being prepared, how long it needs to be cooked and what vessel is being used to cook on. "This unit also has the ability to store up to 25 recipes. And by connecting with Wi-Fi, users can configure their oven features with Jenn-Air's remote start," says Manik. The third alternative is the Samsung Induction range, which also has Wi-Fi connectivity. "This is a practical unit in that the LED surface lights shine onto pots and pans," says Manik. "This provides visual cues that the cook- top is on. As with the Jenn-Air remote, this range can be turned on or off remotely, it can preheat and adjust tem- perature or time for an ultimate cooking experience." New Zealand-based Fisher & Paykel has also moved towards producing integrated refrigerators that install flush into a standard refrigerator cavity. "This design has been extremely popular with high-end customers and the design community," says Matt Sinclair, general manager, Canada. "We are also seeing growth in our Outdoor Kitchen business, DCS appliances, where dis- cerning consumers are looking to replicate their social and entertaining experience outside." In the summer of 2016, Fisher & Paykel added an Integrated Bottom Freezer to its lineup. The popular family size 84-inch and 80-inch sizes feature a large 36-inch door. "These models can even be placed side by side for a seamless solution to meet the need for maxi- mum storage," says Sinclair. A The Fisher & Paykel integrated refrigerator with bottom freezer.
