Ministry of Energy and Mines indicate exploration activity in 2016 steadied or recovered slightly, stabilizing a downward trend that started in 2012. Elevated gold prices renewed interest in precious metal projects, and exploration continued for porphyry copper-gold ±molybdenum and related deposits, and stratiform base metal, specialty metal, industrial mineral and coal deposits.
