Together Everyone
Achieves More!
On September 25 and 26, CMBA – Atlantic Canada held its second annual
conference at Casino Nova Scotia in Halifax. e sold-out event's speaker
line-up was educational and inspiring, and offered something
for everyone.
Among many highlights, delegates were addressed by the Honourable
Scott Brison, MP, president of the Treasury Board; received updates on
Canada's anti-spam legislation and the credit-scoring system Beacon
9.0; learned about the importance of working your database; and were
inspired to "power up success" by the keynote speaker, Olympian
and World Champion kayaker Karen Furneaux.
"Together Everyone Achieves More" (TEAM) was the conference
theme, and it was very much in evidence when the committee chairs for
Brokering Wishes presented the Make-A-Wish Foundation with enough
funds to realize two wishes for local children. In addition, Ian Murray
received the David MacVicar Memorial Mortgage Award for his more than
30 years of commitment, professionalism and leadership in the industry.
Feedback around the conference was overwhelmingly positive,
perhaps best captured in a quote from Ruth Roussy, regional vice
president of Genworth Canada: "Every day I am proud to be part
of this industry, but today I am excited."
