The building is named in recognition of alumnus Charles Chang, who donated $10 million to SFU to inspire innovation and accelerate entrepreneurship throughout the university. The building has 52 fully furnished rooms with space for up to 68 graduate students from across the globe. The second floor is a dedicated social innovation and technology hub that will house several of SFU's innovation programs and initiatives, including social innovation lab and venture incubator RADIUS (Radical Ideas, Useful to Society), and Innovation to Invention: Beedie's new Graduate Certificate in Science and Technology Commercialization.
