And we got an amazing response! We've included a couple of our favourite tales below. To Carolyn and Stan: thanks for sharing – you'll be receiving a BCAA Rewards gift card. A Flat and a Save My husband had just had surgery in New Westminster, and we were cruising down Hwy. 99, anxious to get him home, when . . . thump, thump, thump. My first flat tire in 25 years! I pulled over to call BCAA, and a tow truck was there within minutes. When the driver approached our car, my husband, still groggy from the general anaesthetic, reflexively fumbled with the handle so he could get out and help. The driver assured him he knew how to deal with a flat, persuaded him to stay where he was and changed the tire in record time. I have been a BCAA Member since 1990. All of my your BCAA Membership fees have been worthwhile when I remember that day I truly needed assistance. –Carolyn Smith Immobile Home Some years ago, we were heading home from a camping trip in Las Vegas. We had just driven our RV onto the South Maryland Parkway when the motor quit. I had just enough momentum to park on the median. When smoke started coming out of the engine compartment, I grabbed our fire extinguisher and opened the hood. There were flames all over; however, the extinguisher was able to douse them. So instead of a home on fire, we had a home that was immobile, right in the middle of the parkway! Luckily, I was able to call CAA with our clunky old mobile phone and get in touch with their towing company. The truck arrived within 10 minutes and the driver towed us to nearby Gaudin Ford. It certainly pays to belong. –Stan Bell
