Head to Victoria from October 20 to 22
for the annual conference and AGM
Join the Association of Professional
Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C.
(APEGBC) October 20 to 22, 2016, in
Victoria, B.C., for its annual conference
and 97th annual general meeting. The
Victoria Conference Centre will host the
two days of professional development,
networking opportunities and a tradeshow,
followed by the half-day AGM.
This year's conference will feature
a geoscience professional development
stream, along with two additional
streams related to geoscience,
engineering and geoscience in the
resource sector, and environmental
engineering. Some topics of interest
include: a look at geothermal energy
in B.C.; a B.C. mining industry update;
the role of indigenous peoples in the
development, design and operation
of tailings management facilities;
and radar interferometry and its
potential in B.C.'s resource sector.
APEGBC's Division of Engineers and
Geoscientists in the Resource Sector
(DEGIRS) is also co-ordinating a field
tour of Matsui Creek, a case study on
large-scale, long-runout landslides.
Other professional development
streams being o•ered include emerging
professional; management; structural; better
business; energy e•iciency and renewable
energy; diversity; and climate change.
All APEGBC members are encouraged to
attend the AGM, scheduled for the morning
of October 22. There is no charge to attend
the AGM business portion of the conference.
