Real estate agent who forged
mortgage documents faces jail time
A former real estate agent based in
Newfoundland has been convicted in
criminal court of multiple counts of fraud,
forgery and uttering false documents. e
agent manufactured contracts and financing
documents to deceive a lender into loaning
monies to him, with the loans being
secured against future but
non-existent real estate
commissions. A total of
nine transactions included
fraudulent mortgage
approvals with copy-and-
paste commitment letters.
e agent has not yet been
sentenced, but faces a
potential incarceration term
of up to 10 years.
