J UNE 2016 | 49 Resilient Flooring sophistication. With three types of patterns available – solid, chip and flake – custom- ers have creative freedom in any application. "Utilizing our knowledge of high-end design and safety, we've eliminated the border between smooth and slip resistant flooring with Altro Symphonia," says Alexandropoulos. "No longer will you need to compromise on design to keep your lobby safe, nor vice versa – you can have both." Dinoflex has introduced its Nature's Collection series, a sustainable surface made of rubber and cork. "This series features the utility of rubber with the style and appeal of sustainably harvested cork," says Catherine McKibbon, a client services team mem- ber. "Nature's Collection combines the natural sophistication of cork with the high traction, underfoot comfort and superior sound reducing properties of rubber, mak- ing it ideal for commercial and retail spaces looking to combine form and function." McKibbon adds that because reducing environmental impact is always on their minds, using a sustainably harvested resource like cork allows them to create an environmentally friendly product while combining style and function. In terms of performance, McKibbon says cork is complementary to rubber as it is naturally sound and impact absorbing, anti-allergenic and easy to maintain. "Visually, it gives some character and natural depth to the rubber surface, so it really is redefining the way people see recycled rubber surfacing and how it can be used to create and design a space." One of the products recently introduced by MONDO flooring is Massetto, a sur- face of smooth rubber with a polished concrete appearance. With a minimalistic, contemporary design resulting from an innovative industrial process, "Massetto is a material that combines creative qualities with outstanding practicality and ver- satility," says Scott MacRury, director of sales and operations for MONDO America Inc. "It's the beauty of imperfection, in a range of neutral shades." MacRury says Massetto uses old world craftsmanship, manually preparing the distribution of various rubber pigments to create a unique, one-of-kind design, averting the typical uniformity of mass production. "At the outset, Massetto deliv- ers a unique and enduring design for the resilient market." The use of natural rubber, organic ingredients and recycled content make up 60 per cent of Massetto's core constitution."The resulting combination of natural and rapidly renewable materials guarantees enduring durability, long life and beauty, while fully respecting the environment," says MacRury. Massetto is manufactured at MONDO's facility which is powered by solar energy under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality and environmental controls. When it comes to adhesives for resilient flooring, MAPEI has a full range of solu- tions. Two characteristics of MAPEI's new Ultrabond spray adhesives for carpet tile and resilient flooring have eased the work of floor-covering installers. The aerosol- ized, water-based acrylic adhesives are spray-applied, which allows installers to do their work standing up instead of kneeling, and to complete the job faster than when using trowel-applied adhesives. The higher performance levels of the Ultrabond spray adhesives in relation to moisture resistance allow installations to be com- pleted sooner than with traditional adhesives. "We believe Ultrabond Spray 360 and Ultrabond Spray 810 will provide fast- track installation solutions for professional flooring contractors who must over- come moisture issues and short deadlines on the jobsite," says Jeff Johnson, business manager for floor covering installation systems at MAPEI. Ultrabond Spray 360 is designed for the installation of solid vinyl tile, luxury vinyl tile, vinyl composition tile (VCT) and vinyl plank. All of these types of flooring can be set as soon as 15 minutes after adhesive application. Ultrabond Spray 810 can be used for the installation of vinyl-backed carpet tile, providing excellent tack for secure flooring placement, generally within 15 to 30 minutes. "Both products' unique application method provides excellent bond performance while using con- siderably less material in much less time, while the high moisture resistance pro- motes bond durability," says Johnson.
