Bostik TruColor Pre-Mixed Grout. Application of Maxxon DPM. A PR IL 2016 | 43 Hard Surface Flooring five-day-old concrete," Hills says. Maxxon DPM and Maxxon MVP reduce moisture vapour emissions of up to 25 pounds to three pounds or less. They also provide a high alkalinity barrier (pH 13 to 14), pre- venting the delamination of adhesives, floor cover- ings and coatings. "Maxxon DPM also prevents capil- lary infiltration of oil or other chemicals from the ground and can be used to treat oil contaminated slabs," says Hills. Another product from Maxxon Corporation is the Portland cement-based Level-Right Maxx. This high-strength, self-levelling underlayment/overlayment is designed to level, smooth and repair interior concrete in preparation of floor cov- ering installation. "When sealed with a Maxxon-approved sealer, Level-Right Maxx can also be used as a wear surface, opening a spectrum of concrete-look finished floor possibilities," says Hills. "This moisture tolerant self-leveller is an ideal solu- tion for special projects where the underlayment needs to be installed early in the construction process. And because it is also self-drying, many floor goods can be installed within 24 to 48 hours after the pour." T O U G H E R G R O U T For a variety of commercial and residential tile installations, the patented Bostik TruColor Pre-Mixed Grout offers the ultimate in water-based, urethane grout colour accuracy with stain and crack resistance. "This breakthrough formulation installs up to 50 per cent faster than traditional grouts and never needs to be sealed," says Brandon Spearman, spokesperson for Bostik Canada. "Its perfect balance of flexibil- ity and toughness enables it to exhibit unmatched performance and crack resistance." Because it contains built-in urethane sealer technology, TruColor never needs to be sealed and is ideal for use in heavy traffic areas. "TruColor's industrial strength stain resistance resists all types of stains including coffee, red wine, juice and tomato sauce," says Spearman. "This stain resistance is an important feature of any grouting project." TruColor's breakthrough formulation offers the ultimate in crack resistant flex- ibility. This proprietary technology enables grout joints to absorb movement in sub- floors, which helps prevent cracking of joints to improve the long-term esthetics of your installation. It also exceeds the grout-relevant portion of the ANSI 118.3 epoxy standard (modified ANSI 118.3-UG). Due to numerous developments in the hard surface flooring sector, the Terrazzo Tile & Marble Association of Canada (TTMAC) 09 30 00 installation manual has now been updated to include new details for sound membranes, large format tiles and steam rooms, as well as additional notes explaining the new ISO 13007 mortar and grout classifications. Also a special note to address numerous problematic failures caused by spot bonding has been included. "Improper bonding of tiles due to spot bonding rather than proper thinset cov- erage on tiles has become a rampant problem in the industry," says Duigan Mitchell, TTMAC president. "The association has addressed the problem with a strong cau- tionary statement in the guide. It is the first time we have included a specific instruc- tion on what not to do. We feel it is very important that the TTMAC, as the leaders in training and education for the hard surface industry, address this issue." A
