Other provinces will be added over time. Why was CMBA formed? e CMBA was formed to strengthen the efficiencies of provincial mortgage broker associations and enable them to focus on providing regional services to their members while sharing certain cross-jurisdictional costs, programs and advocacy initiatives amongst provincial associations. It provides Canada's provincial mortgage broker associations with a forum to work cooperatively and better share resources, branding initiatives, programs and information, as well as coordinate engagement of provincial association members to identify trends and develop solutions to common industry and regulatory issues. What is CMBA's branding? All provincial mortgage broker associations belonging to CMBA have adopted one common mark of membership for their members – MB. CMBA and its provincial mortgage associations promote the MB logo to mortgage consumers to let them know that their best mortgage advice comes from a mortgage broker and to look for the mark of membership to find a mortgage broker. CMBA will provide the common trademark, the MB, for use by its provincial member associations. e MB symbol is trademark protected, and only CMBA mortgage broker members will be permitted to use it. A French-language logo has also been developed. e CH logo or Courtiers Hypothécaires is the equivalent branding in French. How does a mortgage broker become a member of the CMBA? If you are a member of MBABC, IMBA or MBAAC, you are automatically a member of CMBA. Your provincial membership dues pay for membership in both associations. e membership fee set by your provincial association automatically provides you with CMBA membership. Each provincial association is free to set their own fees based on the services and initiatives they provide to their members. Does CMBA have represen- tation in all provinces? e Canadian Mortgage Brokers Association is a federally incorporated not-for-profit organization and welcomes membership from brokers in all provinces and territories. Industry members from a province without a provincial association in CMBA can participate – just contact us. The Canadian Mortgage Brokers Association is here. What does that mean for you? e creation of CMBA brings tremendous opportunities for mortgage brokers across Canada to call an organization their own, and to communicate the value proposition of their services to the public, regulators and the entire mortgage and financial services industry. n e CMBA was created by mortgage brokers for the entire mortgage broker industry.
