6 winter 2015 psf.ca Everyone for Salmon Recognizing the Canadian partners and supporters of the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project The Salish Sea Marine Survival Project is a massive scientic undertaking that is virtually unprecedented in the scope of topics considered simultaneously and the breadth of collaboration involved, requiring experts from multiple disciplines and engaging more than 40 partners from both the U.S. and Canada. Many of these partners are providing in-kind support such as salaried staff, access to laboratories and vessels, use of specialized equipment and professional collaborations. That's why donors to the project can expect a 4:1 leverage for every tax-receiptable dollar donated. In 2015, supporters of the Project helped fund 33 projects in the Strait of Georgia. Budget 2015 The Salish Sea Marine Survival Project reached a key milestone with the announcement of Budget 2015 earlier this year. The Pacic Salmon Foundation's CEO Dr. Brian Riddell was on-hand for the announcement. Dr. Riddell said: "I commend the Government of Canada for supporting the Pacic Salmon Foundation's Salish Sea Marine Survival Project with a $2 million contribution through Budget 2015. With continuing support from our donors, we'll now focus on program delivery and getting answers." The $2 million will be used towards the $10 million budgeted for Canadian efforts in the Strait of Georgia. Brian Riddell on the North Shore for the Budget 2015 announcement. Donors who donate $100 or more by December 31 at midnight will have the chance to win the last of six reels carved by First Nations artist Jason Henry Hunt. Reel Change for Salmon PEETZ Outdoors is known for its iconic shing reels and unique tackle. This year, the company is challenging donors to support the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project with a handcrafted mahogany and brass reel featuring carvings by Kwagiulth master carver Jason Henry Hunt. PEETZ commissioned six "Artist Proofs" that are hand-numbered, signed and uniquely embellished by the artist. For every $100 donation made to the Pacific Salmon Foundation by December 31st at midnight, donors will receive one entry towards winning the last remaining of this Artist Series. A $500 donation means five entries! The initiative follows several being implemented by PEETZ to support the Foundation. Early this year, PEETZ and the Foundation partnered on a program entitled "REEL CHANGE," where a minimum of $10 from every PEETZ reel sold through www.peetzoutdoors.com was directed toward salmon conservation. In the new year, Pacic Salmon Foundation will be offering PEETZ reels through psf.ca that are specially engraved with the Foundation's iconic sh emblem. All proceeds from each sale will go directly to the Foundation.
