GP ON A CRISP WINTER DAY in 1914, Nellie McClung led a delegation of women into Manitoba's legislature and demanded to be heard. "Nice women don't want the vote," Premier Rodmond Roblin retorted. But the women just spoke louder, until their voices could not be ignored: on Free Fishing Fun Don't just catch up on Netflix this winter – get outdoors and catch some fish! e Province of Manitoba is luring you to provincial parks with a free winter family ice-fishing weekend (February 13-15, 2016), no fishing license required. It's the perfect opportunity to take advantage of Manitoba's world-class fishing. Cast a line into the icy depths of our lakes and rivers for pike, wall- eye, perch and sauger. Or head to one of the province's stock trout lakes, such as West Blue Lake in Duck Mountain Provincial Park, Foot Print Lake up north or Falcon Lake in the Whiteshell, to catch various trout species, including brown, rainbow, tiger and brook. www.manitobafisheries.com Visitors to provincial parks must have a valid vehicle permit. Purchase a $5 day pass at the gate or pick up an annual provincial park pass for $40 at a CAA Manitoba service centre. Women's Vote Celebrated January 28, 1916, Manitoba made history by being the first province in Canada to give women the vote. Now, to honour the centennial, the Manitoba Museum is crafting a travelling exhibit that will carry those women's voices across the province. Starting on November 5, 2015 at the museum, Nice Women Don't Want the Vote will reveal the fight for women's suffrage through the tales of those who lived it, preserved in oral histories, banners and other artifacts unearthed from grand- mothers' attics. In true homage to those pioneers, the interactive exhibit will keep moving. It will tour Manitoba between February and November 2016, before concluding its journey at Ottawa's Canadian History Museum in November. –Melissa Martin To contribute an artifact or story to the exhibit, contact rsawatzky@manitobamuseum.ca.
