bcbusiness.ca NOVEMBER 2015 BCBusiNEss 15 W H AT YOU SA ID feedback This year kicked off with two consecutive quarters of negative growth. Does this elicit optimism, pessimism or just a polite yawn? Between September 4 and 11, 130 readers responded to our online poll that asked the question: Economically speaking, how do you expect 2016 to fare? Poll of the Month Bu t t o end on a posi t ive no t e! Hans Peter Meyer (@hanspeter meyer) wrote to say: "Congrats @BCBusiness! I was thinking of let- ting my subscription lapse but your September #SMB issue rocks!" 34.62% (45 votes) 36.92% (48 votes) 28.46% (37 votes) A Word of Clarication Deloitte Vancouver partner David Lam wrote to clarify the •rm's role in the sale of Vega to WhiteWave, mentioned in Dee Hon's story about buying an existing business ("Buying In," September 2015). "Deloitte was not involved in a merger and acquisition advisory capacity in the transaction," wrote Lam, adding that Vega is a great example of a business built in B.C. that attracted the attention of many international buyers. The province, he continued, is "a true hotbed for private companies and is leading the way in terms of how some of these companies are growing." CORRECTIONS: There were three errors in a story on Teck Resources ("Teck's Coal Problem," September 2015). The size of Teck's Elkview operation was described incorrectly as having 1,200 workers; it in fact has 800 bargaining unit employees. Also, Elkview is not Teck's largest operation, which is actually Fording River Operations. Furthermore, just three (not all) of Teck's five labour agreements expire this year. We apologize for the errors.
