OCTOBER 2015 | 37 Insulation All spray foam installation contractors must have third-party certification, regardless of membership of any trade association, he says. The Canadian Urethane Foam Contractors Association (CUFCA) and Morrison Hershfield both provide certification. In fact CUFCA has been the leading third party Certification Organization and Field Quality Assurance Provider in Canada for the past 31 years. Its contrac- tors represent the longest participating and most senior experienced installers of two-pound Closed Cell spray polyurethane Foam (SPF) in Canada. The spray foam industry is growing at about 18 per cent per year in Canada. "Across North America, Icynene's growth is surpassing that 18 per cent. One of the biggest differences with Icynene is our ability to help our contractors grow the market," Young says. "The downside of SPF becoming mainstream has been the influx of less than adequately trained install- ers through some manufacturers own training pro- grams that are sub-standard," adds Andrew Cole from CUFCA. "The CUFCA Training Program has been rec- ognized as the leading SPF training program in Canada for 31 years." Currently CUFCA Installers are the only group that have been performing five-year mandatory recertifi- cations of its licensed installers. With ASHRAE 90.1 becoming a universal standard, architects are working to incorporate the thermal per- formance requirements in their designs – at all levels. "Products like Tech-Crete CFI wall are pre-finished exterior insulating panels designed for use in perim- eter foundation and low-rise wall installation. Because CFI involves a one-stage application, not three or four, it's quick and efficient to install," says Lisa Little, archi- tectural sales lead with InterCoast Building Solutions. Despite a solid market for insulation products, sup- pliers and manufacturers are often willing, it seems, to go the extra mile to assist a client with what appears to be a niche product. Structural Panels Inc., prompted by one such request, has developed a perforated steel acoustic panel for dampening noise in industrial envi- ronments. "It can be customized for size. It's very dura- ble and effective," says Structural Panels' Rogers. A Application of Icynene ProSeal. MegalithManagement.indd 1 15-05-08 10:56 AM
