OCTOBER 2015 | 23 Faucets J ust when you thought faucet designers had done it all, along comes the 2015 offerings with everything from wall mounted bidets to blades of water streams that make kitchen cleanup a breeze. Domenic Luisi, president of The Rubinet Faucet Company, has lived up to the old adage that necessity is the mother of invention. Realizing the popularity of bidets in Europe and emerging markets in North America, he designed a model that can be incorporated into the reduced footprints of modern apartments. "I moved into an apartment that had no room for a bidet and adding rough-ins for an additional fixture were not allowed," Luisi says. "So I came up with the idea for a bidet that would go inside the shower and sit against the wall like a body spray or showerhead. It mounts on the wall at approximately 16 inches off the floor, and the actual spout swivels so it can be angled in any direction – from straight up towards the ceiling, 45 degrees, or any other desired direction – and it locks at every position. It can be folded down to be used as a foot rinse or fully angled back out of the way. Even though the beam of water would seem harsh, it is a soft spray and can also be diverted to a shower-type spray." Rubinet also offers an extended handheld showerhead that is curved like a candy cane. "This product can be used for extra cleanliness for people who have limited mobility with issues like age, arthritis or obesity," says Luisi. New from American Standard, Fluent lavatory faucets feature an angled han- dle design for a more comfortable grip and the option of adding discreet hot and cold colour indicators on the handles. "Our new Fluent faucet line, including three lavatory faucets, a tub filler, and a bath and shower trim kit, offer refreshingly unique designs inspired by the fluid, effortless movement of water," says Michael Del Guidice, director of marketing, American Standard. "Adding a purely natural element to the bathroom with simplistic yet artistic designs, the Fluent line also features Speed Connect technology, allowing quick and easy installation for today's increasingly prominent DIY consumer." The Fluent single handle bathroom sink faucet has generous rotation that allows users to achieve the exact water temperature preferred. "To help prevent scalding, this faucet also features an adjustable hot limit safety stop to regulate the amount of hot water that mixes with cold to flow through the faucet," says Del Guidice. Delivering a flow rate of only 5.7 litres per minute, Fluent uses simple design lines Hip To Be Square Faucets mix classic designs with new lines by LAURIE JONES to bring elegance to the bath. This bath faucet collection also includes an oversized showerhead with a seven-inch faceplate that delivers a more satisfying, drenching spray for a relaxing shower experience. With high style and user-friendly applications, the Eurocube Semi Pro kitchen faucet from GROHE will turn heads. "Eurocube Semi Pro is the result of the con- tinuous demand of home chefs and amateur cooks who desire professional-grade faucets in their kitchens without sacrificing sophisticated design elements," says Cheryl Dixon, head of brand trade and marketing for GROHE America. "Designed with the needs of these cooking enthusiasts in mind, Eurocube Semi Pro offers a sturdy yet flexible metal pull-out spray, a 360-degree swivel arm and one-hand operation, providing the ultimate ease of use to complement the natural rhythms of a busy home chef."
