AUGUST 2015 BCBusiness 5 BcBUSINeSS.cA Alberta Reacts Cli Alexander objected to our May cover story about Alberta's economy ("A Letter of Condolence" by Jim Sutherland). He feels the story, and the cover, were sensationalist, inaccurate, anti-Canadian and unneighbourly. Apparently house prices are not plunging in Alberta, there are more people working in Alberta than there were a year ago, and as for the budget, if Alberta stopped transfer payments to other provinces, "Then our budget de'cit would go away OVERNIGHT." Self-described "all-around trouble- maker" Ezra Levant (@ezralevant) saw something else entirely with our May cover—not an exodus from Alberta linked to falling oil prices but one tied to Alberta's surprise May 5 election of an NDP government (after our issue hit stands). feedback W Premier Christy Clark (@christyclarkbc) responded to our story "Does B.c.'s burgeoning craft beer market have room to grow?" (BCBusi- ness.ca/people): "Great look at amazing growth of craft beer business all over Bc. #cheers" W NDP leader John Horgan (@jjhorgan) spotted fellow MLA carole James in "The Most Influential Women in B.c." (June 2015): "So proud of my col- league & friend @carolejames who made the @ bcbusiness 50 Most Influential Women in #Bc!" B . C . ' s T o p P o l i t i c i a n s W r i t e
