+ Concrete Faced Insulating (CFI) Wall Panels from Tech-Crete Processors Ltd. J UNE 2015 | 21 Solar shading that protrudes from a cladding system but protects building occu- pants from sunlight heat and glare is another type of product that Foster expects to become more widespread as building designers focus more on energy and esthetics. Two other systems, one mostly used for the grade transition of the foundation, the other for both cladding and roofing systems, have been keeping buildings dry and warm for some years, and should continue to see strong demand. The insulated wall panels from Tech-Crete Processors Ltd. have an exterior coat- ing of latex-modified concrete and are designed for use on the foundation perimeter or a low-rise wall installation. They have also been used for outdoor tank farms requiring temperature control. "They can be used on any type of building, though they have been mostly used on commercial buildings," says Ryan Hunniford, opera- tions manager at Tech-Crete. The panels can be installed easily with patented gal- vanized steel mounting clips, included with each shipment. Backstop NT and AquaFlash from Dryvit Systems Canada Ltd. are used in com- bination to provide an air and water barrier. Polymer-based and applied as a liq- uid, Backstop NT protects the substrate and AquaFlash the rough wall openings. "Backstop is used instead of a wrap or peel and stick type rubber membranes. It can be used with any cladding system," says Eric McCathie, marketing and technical services associate at Dryvit. A Roofing/Cladding Materials PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY TECH-CRETE PROCESSORS LTD.
