Y
ou've probably been bombarded by
endless ads extolling the virtues of all
the latest cutting-edge electronics, but
the bloggers at
Vancouver
Gadgets
(vancouvergadgets.ca)
have put in the research
and taken out the guesswork. Here are some
of the coolest speakers, smartwatches and
tablets on the market today.
Runtastic Orbit fitness tracker
($119.99)
As its name suggests, Runtastic is pretty
knowledgeable when it comes to health and
fitness. The Orbit tracks your activities, moni-
tors your sleep cycle and even keeps tabs on
the calories you're burning, all from your
wrist, all day long. Blogger Ben Abel sets his
Orbit to let him know when he's reached 8,000
steps each day. GPS functionality also allows
it to track your route when you run or bike.
Eight coloured wrist bands are available, so
pick one to match your mood or your workout
shoes. Plus it's waterproof and even keeps time.
Jabra Sport+ wireless
headphones ($99.99)
Rain and shock proof,
these wireless headphones
are built toward military
standards, so it's unlikely
anything you're going to
do will break them. They clamp securely onto
your ears to stay put during even the most
intense workout. Jump, bump and bounce and
your Jabra headphones are still steady, and three
sizes of Ultra Comfort Eargels mean that when
they're in, you won't feel like pulling them out.
These earphones also deliver excellent stereo
sound, including onboard FM radio, without
any wires. Take a phone call directly from the
headset, mute the mic or control the music —
the treble and bass are more than adequate, says
Abel. Don't forget to recharge the device, as it
provides only four-six hours of use.
