Holding a Friday wedding allowed the couple to extend the festivities through the weekend, as well as providing plenty of opportunity to show o¢ Alexandra's hometown. "It was really great seeing how much people appreciated this beautiful place," says Nick. "My father is from a small town of about 400 people in Nebraska, and my uncle and him were having a little moment overlooking North Vancouver. šey were overheard saying, 'Can you believe two old boys from a farm in Nebraska ended up here?' šat was pretty special to hear." While their day was ‡lled with memorable moments, Alexandra and Nick both single out their "‡rst look" and their vows as highlights. "še ‡rst look was such an intimate moment to absorb with just the two of us," remembers Alexandra. "And our vows really stand out to me as well. People talk about those moments, but it really was like we were still the only two people in the room despite being surrounded by so many." Fun music, an excellent photographer and a wedding planner are high on the list of the couple's recommendations. "To me, when I look back on weddings I've been to, the things I remember aren't the details, what people were wearing or the food – I remember the energy level and excitement on the dance ¨oor," says Nick. Alexandra still looks at their wedding photos once a week and is thankful for a friend's suggestion to hire a day-of wedding coordinator. "We really got to enjoy our day," she says.
