Even today, 14 of ScoreGolf's Top 100 Canadian courses (and ve of its top eight) are ompson designs. Waskesiu is not one of the 100, but it once was and per- haps should be again today. e course plays virtually as omp- son designed it in 1935 and still challenges and delights with its mature forest setting, natural undulations and testy greens. ese have mostly recovered from a rough patch endured a few years ago, but the same cannot be said for the signature lobstick tree in the middle of the rst fairway (under an unusual local rule, a player who hits it has the option of reloading without penalty). Old and sickly, it was removed two years ago and replaced with a young substitute. e new one is smaller, but golfers are still hitting it. 306-663-5300; waskesiugolf.com 2 COOKE MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE Three sets of tees to 6,509 yards is is the only pure muni on our list, although let it be said that both Saskatoon and Regina also have some good ones. Cooke Municipal in Prince Albert is among the oldest courses in the province, with a history that dates to 1909 and a layout that has played pretty much like this since the 1930s.
