According to the Saskatchewan Mustard Develop- ment Commission, mustard produc- tion started in 1936 in Alberta and moved to Saskatchewan in the 1950s and '60s. Today our province accounts for 75 per cent of mustard produced in Canada. There are many varieties in the marketplace, including brown, Dijon and oriental, but yellow mustard remains the most popular condiment. And what better way to celebrate the mustard spice than at the Great Saskatchewan Mustard Festival, held annually in Regina since 2006. The booth-oriented festival features numerous mustard products from Saskatchewan-based vendors. Tasty favourites from the 2014 festival ranged from Grainy Cheese Spread to Glazed Pork Kabobs. mustardfest.org The 2015 festival is on August 30, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., on the deck of the Willow on Wascana restaurant.
