FEBRUARY 2015 | 49 PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY SHERWIN-WILLIAMS Paint & Coatings Pratt & Lambert's 2015 colour forecast titled Origins makes it easy to select from the brand's thousands of colour options. Comprised of four distinct colour pal- ettes – Elemental, Chronicles, Cadence and Terra – this year's forecast features 32 hues including Noir, Pratt & Lambert's 2015 colour of the year. "Fittingly so, the Chronicles trend features our colour of the year, Noir, which has its roots in all time and space," says Sue Wadden, manager of Color + Design, Pratt & Lambert Paints. "From the depths of the oceans where elements sustain us to the celestial, mysterious world of the cos- mos where our existence resides, this deepest blue rep- resents the circle of life and the essence that is Origins." Sico paint has launched its latest product, Sico Muse, in response to the growing trend of vibrant home décor. The paint-and-primer-in-one product fea- tures a revolutionary Touch Resist Technology paint innovation that gives colour surfaces unprecedented richness and depth while providing maximum resis- tance to scratches, marks and stains. "If you're going to paint with colour, this is the product to use," says Mylène Gévry, marketing manager for Sico paint, a brand of PPG Architectural Coatings. "Muse is Sico paint's highest quality, best performing and most sophisticated product to date. Because the product is ultra-smooth and deep in hue, it will add a wow factor and an unbelievably luxurious, fashionable and artistic feel to any room." With the tagline Inspired By The Grandeur Of Your Ideas, the product was introduced to meet increasing consumer demand for high-quality, long-lasting colour- infused paint, Gévry says. "Bolder colours are more in vogue than ever in home décor – even neutrals are more colourful than in the past. This is a clear indication that people are becoming comfortable expressing them- selves with colour in their homes, and we've delivered a product that enables their creativity to come alive in the most beautiful way." With the launch of Sico Muse paint, Gévry says that room makeovers are easier – and the results far more striking – when you start with a rich-coloured canvas in place of a blank one. For several years, The Coast Group has been an offi- cial distributor for Sansin, a leader in environmentally- friendly wood protection. Well known with products for structures like decks and log homes, Sansin also offers finishes for inside the house. "The Purity line has a number of products for the interior, including the 0-VOC Gel Stain," says the Coast Group's Gary Brown. "This offers all the beauty and colour of Purity Interior Stain, but one additional benefit is the longer working time. That gives the ability to wipe for addi- tional colour control so you can highlight grain and tone precisely. This particular feature makes it ideal for smaller projects." For easy clean up, Purity Interior 0-VOC Gel Stain uses only nature's own solvent – water. The simple application makes for a smooth finish, with no splatter or brush marks. When it comes to low VOC paint, Cloverdale Paint has expanded its leading Ecologic Ultra Low VOC product line into six gloss levels: washable flat, egg- shell, pearl, low gloss, semi-gloss and gloss. "This is the finest paint we make," says Kevin Skelly, market- ing manager. "Ecologic provides top quality paint in this Ultra Low VOC line in all of the gloss ranges that everyone from designers and specifiers through home owners seek." Within the eco-responsible scope, Cloverdale Paint continues research and development on an ongoing basis, always searching for new formulas that provide high performance, yet minimizing the environmental impact of any formulas by way of reduced VOCs. "Our stores communicate to all customers to use all the paint needed or provide any leftover to someone who can use it," says Skelly. As the majority of paint Cloverdale Paint supplies is for architectural purposes including walls, ceilings, doors and trim, amongst other surfaces, the company does not put out a colour of the year. "Our colours con- tinue to be livable colours, as opposed to brights or other colours for accents that are not applied on site by painting contractors."
