This short course will comprise four sepa-
rate seminars covering a range of topics of
key interest to industry participants, and
to mining company executives in particu-
lar. The course, to be taught by legal and
industry experts, will include discussions
on the following topics: tips for negoti-
ating and drafting Letters of Intent for
mining deals, including key terms, and
how to avoid common pitfalls and prob-
lems; legal and commercial considerations
when structuring royalties and negotiat-
ing royalty agreements; guidelines for
successfully negotiating joint-venture
arrangements and option agreements,
from the perspectives of both major and
junior mining companies; and timing
and strategies for negotiating with First
Nations, including how to identify objec-
tives and create partnerships.
