Speaker'S Corner A Year of Changes 8 g o i n g p l a c e s | w i n t e r 2 0 1 4 Property and Casualty Insurance Last spring, we welcomed an additional underwriter, CAA Insurance Company (Ontario), which offers members up to 10 per cent off home, condo and tenant insurance premiums. On top of this, when you're insured under CAA Insurance Company (Ontario), you can add Home Equipment Breakdown coverage – giving you peace of mind that you'll never have to deal with the high cost of replacing such items as furnaces, hot water tanks, appliances, personal computers and more. Magazine ere are also changes to Going Places, which I hope you will find both informative and entertaining. Check out the new columns, Home Sweet Home (page 55) and Top 5 (page 20). Coming next issue: Ask the Experts, which answers your travel, insurance and automotive questions. We've also cut down on the amount of ads to allow for more quality content. As you can see, we have come a long way since our inception in 1904, and we're always looking for new ways to help improve our member experience. I think that's what has helped us stick around for so long, and why we will be here for 110 years to come. GP –Mike Mager President and CEO, CAA Manitoba I t's hard to believe we're celebrating our 110th anniversary as an auto club in Manitoba. When the Manitoba Motor League first started, Wilfred Laurier was prime minister, Saskatchewan and Alberta weren't even provinces and Manitobans weren't required to register vehicles. As you can see, a lot has changed in Canada, as well as at CAA. is past year, in particular, has brought on many great changes to help us better serve our members. Of all the technologies we've introduced recently, two really stand out for me. One of those is our new phone system, which allows us to call you back when a CAA advisor is available rather than have you stay on hold. e other is our new Request Service Online functionality. User-friendly and fully mobile, it allows members to place a roadside assistance request online. Together, these advances will help streamline emergency roadside assistance requests. Here are some other great new changes we've introduced to help serve you better: Mobile We are excited to launch an iPad app, as well as improvements to the smartphone app for Apple, Android and Blackberry devices (see page 58). is free, all-in-one app allows members to request road- side assistance, find exclusive member rewards and savings, create TripTiks, and get road reports and the best gas prices – all at their fingertips. If you haven't already done so, head to your device's app store to download it now. Online In addition to calling or visiting CAA Mani- toba, you can now purchase travel health insurance with just the click of a mouse. Sim- ply visit www.caamanitoba.com/travel_insur- ance on your home/laptop computer. This means you can make sure you're protected before you go – even when you're doing all that last-minute packing.
