Adhesives MAPEI has introduced its Flexcolor CQ adhesive – a single-component, ready- to-use grout available that makes the job easier for tile-setting profession- als. The key focus of MAPEI Flexcolor CQ is a water-based styrene acrylic co- polymer with a proprietary admixture package using coated quartz aggregate technology. This next-generation grout offers a triple benefit to installers: workabilit y, cleanabilit y and colour consistency. "We are focusing on the commercial installer to bring them MAPEI quality with the ease of ready-to-use grout," says David Mower y, tile and stone installation systems business manager for Colour Products and the UltraCare line. "This is not the old-style premixed grout, but a nex t-generation prod- uct that is simple to apply and almost effortless to clean with little to no haze on the tile after the initial wash." Mower y also notes Flexcolor CQ should eliminate callbacks from con- sumers about grout not being colour- consistent throughout the area of their tile floor. "This product combines chemical resistance and stain resis- tance comparable to epoxy grouts with the abrasion resistance of cementitious grout to bring the end-user an ease of maintenance never experienced before," he says. "Plus, its abilit y to rebond over an existing installation ensures flush joints and easy touch-up of any damaged joints or tile replace- ment." Schluter Systems is focusing on two profiles for bathroom applications – the DECO-SG (Shadow Gap) and the DILEX- AS. "The Shadow Gap is a profile that allows you to make a shadow in your tile installation, which means an inden- tation to the way it is configured," says Dale Kempster, technical director, Can- ada. "The nice thing about this is you can either make a shadow against the door frame or in the middle of your tile. The Shadow Gap profile is half-an-inch wide which makes it ideal for installing a glass wall in a shower seamlessly. It goes in below the tile so there are no brackets to attach the glass." Kempster says DILEX-AS is a pro- file they have redesigned so it is less commercial looking. "The DILEX-AS eliminates caulking between the tiled walls and bathtub. It has a self-adhe- sive tape so you can adhere it to the sill of the bathtub then the tiles go right down over top of it. This is made with a mechanical joint so that when the tub fills up with water and it drops slightly, the profile can easily adjust to the ver- tical displacement and still allow for a watertight seal." ■ 42/ october 2014 tiles © 2014 Maxxon ® Corporation, all rights reserved.
