140-degree swivel arm allows clear- ance for full-sink coverage when clean- ing and filling tall pots. The team at Robinson Lighting & Bath Centre knows that faucet designs offer a wide variety of options. "Chrome is still the number one choice, followed by stainless steel or brushed nickel," says Christina Kempinski, showroom manager in Edmonton, Alberta. "Most kitchen faucets that are available now have a pull out or pull down spray feature. This is especially handy in the kitchen – from filling coffee pots to cleaning the sink. Each manufac- turer has its own unique twist on fea- tures, like pause buttons, hands free or magnetic contact to allow the head to be directed back to its position." Kempinski notes that there is an array of choice for bathroom faucets as well. "The single hole faucet is still number one because of its simplicity, ease of cleaning and price point." She says plumbing has also changed substantially from the utilitarian func- tion to artwork. "There are so many interesting choices adding different ele- ments into the faucet designs from deep rustic tones with an old-world look to modern art. The best way to narrow the choices is to begin with a plan and establish a style – whether it is tradi- tional, modern or transitional. Then finish options would include chrome, brushed nickel or bronze." American Standard takes the mini- malist look to the limit with its new Times Square bathroom faucet collec- tion. "Our consumers tell us that they like collections," says Simone Abele, VP marketing. "For one thing, collec- tions make it easier to create a co-ordi- nated look when planning a makeover. And the larger the collection the more options homeowners have with their product choice." The quiet, elegant looks of the Times Square collection are backed-up by advanced technologies and convenient features that will help save water, sim- plify installation and reduce mainte- nance. "The flow rate of all three sink faucets is limited to a water-saving of 1.25gpm (5.7L/m), by means of pres- sure-compensating aerators that pro- vide 32 per cent greater savings than standard faucet models," says Abele. The faucets are WaterSense-certified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ( EPA), ensuring water savings without sacrificing performance. The new Times Square bath and sink faucets incorporate the American Stan- dard exclusive pre-assembled metal Speed Connect drain. "This innovative system simplifies drain installation and never needs adjusting," says Abele. "The drain seals tightly and the lift rod comes set to correct height and never works loose." Delta Faucet Canada has focused its profiles on two sleek designs from the Brizo collection that will fit into high-end residences with elegance and flair. The Odin selection offers a clean, Scandinavian design with a wealth of leading-edge technologies. "This unit is available in five finishes including a new split finish option," says Krystin Lee, spokesperson for Delta. "The Odin faucet spout features a water-efficient, hidden laminar f low aerator and is available with or without the hands- free SmartTouchPlus." The second choice from Brizo for res- idential use is the Sotria bath collection. Inspired by the streamlined architec- ture of airplanes, Sotria delivers mod- ern elegance. "The design of this faucet features a closed or channel spout and is available in four finishes and a vari- ety of configurations. Inf luences for this collection come from mid-century America where automobiles with fin tails were common," says Lee. "Free- standing tub fillers and multi-function showerheads are also available." The Delta Ara Bath Collection for resident ial inst allat ion feat ures a unique, angled design. "The Ara Bath Collection features a full product offer- ing in both enclosed and channel spout options," says Lee. "This line is stream- lined and has a look of contemporary elegance." n GROHE won the Red Dot: Best of the Best award for the Minta Touch kitchen faucet. october 2014 /17 Faucets
