What's Making A Splash? Experts reveal the hottest new bathtub and shower trends by Laurie Jones contemporary Lyndon tub. "The portfolio establishes new levels of luxury in a wide range of unique products," says Simone Abele, VP marketing, American Standard Canada. The Lyndon tub, measuring 66-inch by 30-inch by 24-inch has a variety of unique attributes, including a contemporary, geometrical look. "The Lyndon tub is a fresh, clean and minimalist shape," says Margaret Monteleone, director of luxury product marketing for American Standard. "The contoured lines and thin walls give the tub a delicate and elegant silhouette, and the interior design contours the body with sloping walls to enhance the bathing experience." The freestanding design of the Lyndon tub blends well into the current bathtub trend. "This deep tub is consistent with other DVX models and complies with industry standards," says Monteleone. C urrent fashion always makes a statement – from shoes to cars to homes. Selecting the latest trend in bathtubs and showers is no exception. With state-of-the-art devices that turn a regular bathroom into an oasis, today's bathing manufacturers are ahead of the wave. Continuing its legacy for providing luxurious home spa options, Kohler offers two new freestanding tubs – the Sunstruck and Stargaze. "This year, we're continuing to see a favourable attitude toward freestanding bathtubs," says Donna Church, marketing and communications manager, Kohler Canada. "Their ability to create a focal point in the bathroom is undeniable. The Sunstruck and Stargaze baths are examples of how this style has been updated for the modern bathroom, while still harkening back to the traditional feel of a freestanding bath. Both bathtubs provide esthetic appeal and maximum comfort, and are made for deep soaking and relaxation with ergonomic design. The Stargaze even provides lumbar support at both ends, so you can stretch out in full comfort." A third luxury choice for modern Kohler bathtubs is the VibrAcoustic, featuring personalized hydrotherapy with six built-in underwater speakers. "Unlike baths that use jets to move the water, the VibrAcoustic actually uses music sound waves that envelop and gently resound within the body," says Church. A unique addition to BainUltra's collection for 2014 is the Evanescence bath. "This compact tub is intended for single- bather users, but is large enough for two to comfortably enjoy its therapies together," says Julie Metras, marketing project manager. "Evanescence has a cleanly-styled interior, without any accessories, and gives the bather comfort and freedom of movement, while the spacious design allows for full-body immersion. The water's calming, transformative power will help give you total serenity." Evanescence baths in the ThermoMasseur category offer all the therapeutic benefits of hydro-thermo massage, including better body-mind relaxation, relief of back pain and improved circulation. The addition of BainUltra's Geysair technology can help further enhance and prolong these benefits. "Evanescence baths are available in two shapes, a 66-inch by 34-inch by 28-inch rectangular or a 66-inch by 36-inch by 28-inch oval, each ideal for smaller bathrooms," says Metras. "The backrests support the head and nape of the neck and provide uniform heat all along the spine." In the world of upscale elegance, Ambient Bathrooms offers the Teuco Autoritratti collection of glamorous bathtubs that will create a significant wow factor in any home. "We are very excited to handle this line of bathroom fixtures because it is a brand with history and tradition in Europe," says Julia Ilnitchi, sales manager. "The classic designs of these tubs match the shower bases and sinks, which works well for designers." Designed by Carlo Colombo, the Accademia tub received the 2014 Red Dot design award for best tub. Inspired by the neoclassical balance between material and shape, Accademia embraces old-world influences by linking the choice of materials and more classic luxury stylistic features for a sophisticated result. Another award-winning product from the Autoritratti collection is I Bordi, which received the 2012 Red Dot design award for best tub. I Bordi is defined by strikingly simple details that are naturally inscribed in the material used, including Carrara marble, Stone Grey and the ultra-modern Duralight. To celebrate 15 decades of design achievement, American Standard has introduced the DVX brand that includes the Sunstruck freestanding bath with fluted shroud from Kohler.
