ARCHITECT: Teeple Architects, AECOM CLIENT: Metrolinx LOCATION: Pickering, ON The Pickering GO Pedestrian Bridge has become the solution to connecting pedestrians, commuting passengers and cyclists between the north and south sides of the Lakeshore East Railway Lines, and through 16 lanes of one of Canada's busiest highways. Bridging over 250 metres, and fully enclosed in structural glazing, in 6 sections of bridge trusses complete with an organic undulating aluminum mesh skin that at night will be turned on with LED lights. During the day the perforated aluminum exterior shades the glazing of the interior structure, reducing the heat the sun would generate inside during summer months. This multi-million dollar structure will not only play a predominate role in connecting people to other transportation networks, but it will also have a positive impact on Pickering's downtown dramatic transformation. total building envelope F L Y N N C A N A D A L T D.
