performance fibreglass FiberWall 458 series offers a robust sash and frame to accommodate magnum-sized casements and awnings. Starline Windows colour availability and fade-resis- tance are appealing to architects and builders looking for variety and durability. "We have co-extruded PVC colours and our aluminum windows are available in up to 20 colours inside or out," says Mike Harrison, archi- tectural representative for Starline Windows. "People are wanting to get away from the typical white or beige," he adds. Starline's aluminum Designer Series not only offers colour options, but also a nar- rower profile that gels with consumer's interests in much larger, architecturally-inspired windows for their home. "People are always wanting to have the biggest windows possible to maximize daylight and views, but they also want high performance and energy efficiency with that," Harrison notes. "However, you can only make windows so big before there are han- dling issues or potential building code violations." The research and development department at Star- line is particularly aware of those codes – its goal is to not just meet the new North American Fenestration Standard/Specification ( NAFS), but to exceed it wher- ever feasible. "Our knowledge and experience gained with NAFS will be invaluable for consumers once the particular market adopts the new NAFS-based testing as part of its updated building codes," says Harrison. The demand for vinyl windows is also growing. UPVC windows in particular are popular thanks to their low-maintenance style and recyclability. "With today's increasing cost of energy, homeowners and building professionals alike are interested in products that provide superior thermal comfort and significant energy savings without sacrificing elegance or design," agrees Catherine Johnston, marketing co-ordinator for EuroLine Windows Inc. The company's 4700-series ThermoPlus windows are particularly popular – man- ufactured with a high-tech vinyl-fibreglass hybrid material, the ThermoPlus windows provide long-term air tightness, reduces energy loss and look good doing 4700-series ThermoPlus windows and doors, photos courtesy EuroLine Windows Inc.
