The Ritchie Foundation 6 summer 2014 psf.ca HAVING FUN AND GIVING BACK The Foundation's partnership with the recreational sheries industry has proven to be another invaluable source of funding. The Salmon Futures Fishing Trip has raised close to $50,000 during the last four years. This year founder and Foundation board member Chris Donaldson partnered with Cambridge House International VP John Baldwin to launch the trip in local waters. It left from Granville Island and featured a day of shing followed by a BBQ. Meanwhile Naden Lodge donated a free trip to its picturesque grounds as a prize at the Vancouver Gala, reeling in $5,500 for Paci c salmon in the process. Naden also emerged as a leader in the conservation contribution program, through which guests can donate via an optional surcharge on their bill. The Foundation's recommended charge is $25; Naden chose to double it, and salmon are reaping the bene ts. For their part Duncanby Lodge and Marina has been donating free trips since 2005, but in 2013 owner Sid Keay upped their support by signing on for the contribution program, generating $10,000 for the year. Thank you. Donations to the Paci c Salmon Foundation support projects that address salmon conservation, restoration and enhancement across the province. These individuals and organizations have made cumulative donations of $100,000 or more to the Foundation. Everyone for Salmon Spotlighting the generous donors and tireless volunteers who help the Paci c Salmon Foundation in our work Ross Beaty was the honourary chair for the Foundation's 2014 Vancouver Gala and a key supporter of the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project through his Sitka Foundation. PARTY TIME! The Paci c Salmon Foundation has always depended on the generosity of concerned citizens and companies across B.C. to help fund projects that safeguard Paci c salmon. Since 1992, one of our most valuable fundraising tools has been the annual Vancouver Gala Dinner & Auction, held once again this past April at the Vancouver Convention Centre. For $200 per ticket, attendees were treated to a vibrant evening of wining, dining and mingling, as well as raf es and auctions for a unique array of items ranging from hand-carved jewellery to premium shing rods to striking First Nations art. All told, attendees raised over $225,000. The true highlight of the evening was provided by philanthropist Rudy North, who stepped into the spotlight to pledge $250,000 to the Foundation's most wide-ranging initiative: the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project. The six-fi gure cheque was more than a pledge, said North; it was a challenge to his peers — one that several other donors have since accepted, resulting in $750,000 in new funds. That leaves only $1.75 million left to be raised before funding of the Salish Sea Project is complete!
