VOLUME 20 ISSUE 2 SPRING 2014 The Mark of Excellence Welcome to the latest issue of Mortgage Broker magazine. We have had wonderful and positive feedback on the new look of MBABC's quarterly magazine. Our recent MBABC conference and trade show was a tremendous success. Many attendees said it was one of the best trade shows in recent times, and I tend to agree. e hard work of staff, volunteers and the board of directors really paid off. ere was certainly a buzz in the air and a feeling that MBABC was back in full force. ere is no denying that MBABC is here to support the British Columbia mortgage broker industry. Trade show exhibitors were pleased with the number of brokers they could meet. e brokers were very happy with the education, motivation and camaraderie of the event. I also want to congratulate the winners of the MBABC Awards that were handed out during the gala evening. e winners were: Karl Madsen, Outstanding Contribution Award; Jared Dreyer and Geoff Parkin, Past President's Award; June Locke, Individual Partner Award; First National Financial, Corporate Partner Award; and, Gord Wintrup, Pioneer Award. Individuals and companies like these winners help make MBABC the success that it is. We all look forward to celebrating MBABC's 25th anniversary at the 2015 conference. It promises to be an incredible event! During the conference I was also pleased to roll out and discuss a new potential word mark that MBABC will be trademarking for use in future advertising campaigns. We call this campaign the "mark of excellence." e word mark that you see will be used in all future advertising by MBABC. Its use will be strictly controlled and will be limited to use by member brokers of the MBABC under a licensing agreement, much like the term "Realtor" is used by real estate agents. We hope to have more information regarding this trademark in the near future.
