bcbusiness.cA April 2014 BCBusiness 43 K rebs has been garnering awards since her student days at BCIT and Royal Roads University. In fact, the $12,000 award she received for the Mercer Advisors Bachelor of Commerce Convocation Scholar- ship at RRU financed the start of ethicalDeal, a daily-deal website featuring sustainable and organic products and food. The site reached $1 million in sales in its first year, and she has since grown her team to 10 people. In 2011 Fast Company named her to its list of Top 25 Women-led Startups to Watch. Krebs says she's lucky to run a business that "profits with purpose," and takes her sustainability mission as seriously as her desire to boost B.C.'s profile. As a member of LocoBC, a non-profit that sup- ports B.C. businesses, Krebs is part of a movement that aims to grow the local economy while encouraging consumers to patronize the businesses in their own backyard. –K.H.
