He was finishing his undergrad in mechanical engineering at McGill University when he started volunteering with Ottawa-based venture capital- ists Wesley Clover International Corp. After about six months he got a call from the firm one Friday and was told that if he could be in Victoria by Monday, he could start a company with its backing, under the tutelage of Ted Darcie in the Engineering Entrepreneurship@ UVic program. He packed his bags and upon arrival launched a project aimed at helping wireless service providers monitor their networks' performance. Two-and-a-half years later, Tutela Technologies has 10 employees and more than $1 million in funding. –D.G. 30 UNDER 30 p38-67_30Under30_april.indd 64 14-03-07 2:06 PM
