The Value of Membership Derek Corrigan – Mayor of Burnaby, City of Burnaby www.burnaby.bc.ca "The City of Burnaby is fortunate to b e home to an extremely progressive, collaborative, innovative Board of Trade. Our ongoing work with the Board ensures Burnaby is well positioned to seize business opportunities, locally and internationally. Together, we are developing valuable, productive relationships globally with friendship and sister cities. And, of course, while our relationship with the Board of Trade extends to international partnerships, it begins here in Burnaby. Through the Board and its members, the City stays in touch with business. It's a great relationship that allows us to keep our fi nger on the pulse of the City's business community. The Burnaby Board of Trade does exemplary work that ensures all Burnaby businesses are supported for local and global success." Holly Renaud – Account Executive SW AUDIO VISUAL www.sw-online.com Coming up on our first anniversary with the Burnaby Board of Trade, and what a year it has been! I would recommend joining to any Burnaby business owner. The BBOT's networking and social events have helped generate solid leads and sales revenue, while the educational seminars offer useful and proactive tools for every business type looking to improve sustainability, social networking strategies and much more. For me, it has been the people that have made this experience most enjoyable. The BBOT team is always available to offer support, to answer questions, and to have fun. Being new to the company, to B.C., and to Burnaby, I've made some great friends in a short time and had some new and exciting experiences (night skiing at Mt. Seymour, for one!). Thank you to the BBOT for welcoming us into the community! Denise Haskett Community Leader/Executive Director L'Arche Greater Vancouver www.larchevancouver.org ❯❯ When we joined the BBOT six years ago, very few people knew about L'Arche, even though we'd been actively engaged in the community and serving adults with developmental disabilities in Burnaby for over 30 years. Our membership put us on the map, and through various events we've connected with supporters, sponsors and board members. The Board continues to offer opportunities that keep us current with civic and business affairs, which is vital for a not-for-profit organization. BBOT's events, membership services and exemplary staff greatly increase our capacity for growth. For HollyNorth, it gives our business an advocate and opportunity to voice our concerns to all levels of government. We enjoy being a part of the local business community and attending some of the many great networking events and seminars provided by the Burnaby Board of Trade. We are especially proud to be one of the first Burnaby businesses to have taken the BBOT Pledge for a Sustainable Community. 20 BURNABY BOARD OF TRADE 2013/2014 • MEMBERSHIP & RESOURCE DIRECTORY p20-21 ValMbrshp_FeatCom2013.indd 20 C 13-10-09 10:59 AM ❯❯ C Th as of re un be Th ad pr th co
