Tap Into The World Of Faucets Revolutionary design and technological advancements are shaping the future of the sector by Laurie Jones T he world of faucets has almost become an art form. From traditional-style units that spark memories of visiting grandma's house to ultra-modern designs, there is something to suit all tastes. Kohler Canada has created a number of unique faucets that fit into a modern home. The simplicity of the Purist faucet lends itself to modern kitchens and bathrooms. In the kitchen, a high-arch swing spout allows Purist to work well with large cookware. Designed to accommodate extra-thick counters, the streamline styling of Purist makes cleaning easy. The Kohler Purist bathroom faucet has a unique contemporary design. "The single control faucet works to support any modern, minimalist design," says Donna Church, marketing manager for Kohler Canada. "If you're working on a bathroom renovation, there is a full suite of Purist products to choose from, making it easy to keep your design cohesive." Another sleek faucet selection from Kohler is the Alteo. "With a more organic look, the Kohler Alteo faucet has a natural design, with a fluid silhouette that adapts well to any bathroom," says Church. "With its centre-set or widespread handles and a variety of finishes, the Alteo faucet offers many options for personalization." Delta Faucet Company has introduced a number of options for contemporary faucets. Inspired by the clean design and minimal details of an urban high-rise, Delta's Compel bath collection brings a sense of urban sophistication to the home. "We've seen a growing trend towards single-handle faucets in both the kitchen and the bathroom spaces. The faucets are sleek, simplified options that bring glamour and functionality to compact sink spaces," says Anita Griffin, director of marketing and communications for Delta Faucet. Colour is making a bold comeback too. Homeowners looking to add drama to their living spaces are thinking out- side the traditional design box and choosing colour schemes that add a punch of excitement to all the rooms in their home. "While chrome finishes remain popular among consumers, split-finish faucets are also gaining a following, particularly with our Fuse kitchen line," says Griffin. "These units feature a pop of colour like Chili Pepper Red or Snowflake White, harnessing the trend of colour in unexpected places." Delta Faucet brings an elegant take to the modern form with its new Vero bath collection. It allows homeowners to create a high-end feel without the high-end price. Grohe Canada Inc. has launched the Grandera collection, which boasts ground-breaking design for sophisticated consumers. Created for a target audience who appreciates elegant-classic looks with a modern flair, the Grandera line incorporates state-of-the-art materials and technology in the StarLight Chrome and brushed nickel InfinityFinish faucets. "Designing Grandera was a unique experience due to the almost paradoxical approach we took," says Paul Flowers, senior VP of design for Grohe AG. "The result is a line of internationally-inspired water fittings that have a strong global appeal." Bathroom faucets benefit from Grohe's SilkMove cartridge technology – a new faucet cartridge that controls the water flow and water temperature. Adding to the technology component, Grohe Zero is an innovative brass alloy developed to usher in a new era of faucet manufacturing. All Grohe Zero products, including the new Grohe SPA line Grandera, contain 90 per cent less lead and are five times more resistant to corrosion than conventional water fittings. "Grandera's distinctive look and state-of-the-art technology make it an ideal specification for international luxury hotels. Apart from that, Grandera is also a stylish addition to any residential bathroom around the globe," says David J. Haines, CEO of Grohe AG.
