ROBERT STEFANOWICZ on the west and facing the Vancouver Convention Centre on the east." Although the east face of the tower is predominantly curtain wall, Hancock notes that each two-level suite "has glass on the remaining three sides, providing a spectacular sense of openness." BBA Design Consultants Inc. principal Sharon Bortolotto's approach to designing the residential in-suite interiors was a departure from the wood and millwork used in Two Harbour Green. "The suites are all about imparting a light, airy feeling, and we didn't want to compete with that," she says. "Therefore, we went with a clean, minimalist appearance with lots of lacquer inishes. Everything is Italian from the cabinets to the faucets, and we engaged a Quebec company called Wet to provide beautiful free-standing bathtubs with handsome wood ledges." Ledcor Construction Ltd., the general contractor for the irst two towers, broke ground on the site in October of 2008. Construction manager Noris Raycroft told the press that the project represented "the inal jewel in the Coal Harbour dream of Aspac," and as an example of the many tasks required to bring Aspac's vision to life he cited the stone veneer from Brazil that would be incorporated into the curtain wall system and also handset on the exterior of the lower ive levels. "This will give a more integrated stone-and-glass appearance to the tower," he said. Ryan praises the construction team for completing a massive job on time and under budget. "The cost came in at $100 million, and this was achieved partly due to Ledcor's experience but more so because its team of professionals has worked with us on several project, understands the degree of quality we want to deliver, and shares our vision. I can't say enough good things about them." While the outdoor spaces of the irst two Harbour Green towers were designed by Phillips Farevaag Smallenberg Inc. to share a degree of visual low, Three Harbour Green required Three Harbour Green p.46-49Three Harbour Green.indd 49 the company to shift gears. "This tower doesn't have a communal outdoor space," says PFS landscape architect Ross Dixon. "Instead, our job was to create inner spaces for the ground-level townhomes in order to impart a sense of privacy for the residents and provide a physical barrier between the homes and the public sidewalk lanking Harbour Green Park. The patios are small but equipped with ireplaces, making them ideal for intimate get-togethers." Hancock says that due to the meticulous planning undertaken by his irm and Aspac, "our conceptual vision for the tower very much matched the inal product. Again, the main thrust of our work was to achieve optimum quality, and in this regard Three Harbour Green is mind-bogglingly rich." Ryan couldn't agree more: "Thanks to IBI/HB Architects, Ledcor Construction and many talented sub-trades, Three Harbour Green is a truly elegant showcase and everything we had hoped for. It's a itting conclusion to our work in Coal Harbour." ■ LOCATION 277 Thurlow Street Vancouver, B.C. OWNER/DEVELOPER Aspac Developments Ltd.
