Wood-grain textured fibreglass door from All Weather Windows. Another product from Durabuilt is the AvantGuard™ pre inished ibreglass door. "These doors come in a number of inishes, including Spanish Cedar and Black Walnut," says Moroz. "The doors have a patented system that applies an authentic image layer to a protective primer. This layer, in combination with the wood grain texture, provides an unprecedented replication of premium wood with the bene its of ibreglass." New for Durabuilt is the Eclipse ibreglass aluminum-clad entry door. "This door combines a rich wood grain or smooth ibreglass look with a modern aluminumclad envelope to create a wonderful esthetic," says Moroz. "The Eclipse system is exclusively available through Durabuilt. The standard security feature is the Lockmaster® multi-point lock system, to give homeowners extra peace of mind." Over the last few years, Duxton Windows & Doors has been interacting with designers and architects, resulting in top-notch new products. "Many of the doors that we have in the market today came from the discussions with designers," says Al Dueck, company founder. "These new designs were developed using the technology available and our insulated ibreglass frames. One project involved a red door that looked signi icantly oversized. In reality, it was a normal door but the frame itself was very tall, givng the illusion of a much bigger structure." The two main categories Duxton offers are the Fibreglass Swinging Door and the Series 600: Sliding Glass Door. "Our ibreglass doors are made with 4.5-inch pultruded ibreglass lineals reinforced with three-quarter-inch ir veneer core plywood on vertical jambs," says Dueck. The choice of Duxton's Designer Arch Fiberglass Series offers smooth or oak-grain inish options. "The pultruded ibreglass on the Series 600 creates exceptional strength and stability providing a wide range of sizes and combinations of sliding glass doors," says Dueck. "We have custom sizes of over eight feet tall and over 16 feet wide, with added sidelights and transoms to create window walls with extraordinary luminance and ventilation qualities." Hafele Canada Inc. recently launched its latest product, the Slido Classic, which has been well received by door manufacturers and millworkers. "We are seeing a lot more architectural millwork shops producing lightweight doors because they have the capability of building the products from scratch," says Maurizio Frigo, architectural product manager. "They build the frame, or sub-structure and put the inishing panels on them. Almost every system we have will accommodate these doors, but our most popular system at the moment is the Slido Classic, with its integrated soft-close mechanism inside the track. It maintains a very low pro ile and can carry lightweight panels as well as heavier panels. It is probably one of the easiest to install and is also the smoothest." Because Hafele has just introduced the Slido Classic, it is getting a lot of attention. It is low-priced, but it can perform just as well as the more expensive sliding systems. "Another product in the family is the Slido Design," says Frigo. "This has exposed hardware, in which the stainless steel running gear is visible. Both systems can accommodate wood panels, glass panels and synthetic materials like laminates." ■ Doors p.28-33Doors.indd 33 APRIL 2012 /33 3/26/12 2:21:43 PM
