That was infectious, so we got excited by that." "It was a bit daunting at first to put all our faith in Lori. But she was great about breaking the timeline down into manageable chunks of things for us to work on. She was also good at making sure we were getting things done on time." Kavita and Dallas wrote their gruelling final licensing exams at the beginning of May. With exams all done they were finally able to jump on board with the planning. "As we got closer to the date, we were making decisions around fine tuning because they were finally able to focus their thoughts on the wedding," Lori recalls. "I continued to guide them, but in the end, I had to make some of the decisions about details myself, because it was getting down to the wire." One eventuality that had to be planned for was the weather which is, unfortunately, never predictable. Kavita and Dallas preferred to have an outdoor event on the Cecil Green patio, but alongside that a plan B had to be orchestrated to celebrate inside if the weather didn't cooperate. Another detail was the candy table that Kavita and Dallas wanted. It was difficult finding candies locally that would match and complement the colour theme. "It's often the little details that hold things together," Lori says. "If you start letting details slip, it reduces the impact and the effect you've worked so hard to create." An online search found the perfect candies with just the right colours and Lori ordered them from the US. As June 5th approached, it became evident that the weather was going to cooperate and Plan A for the outdoor patio reception was put into action. However, one of the challenges of Cecil Green Park House as a venue was that Lori's team was unable to access the venue for set up until 4:00 pm on the afternoon of the wedding day and the ceremony was to start at 6:45. "We had to do a lot of preparation beforehand," says Lori. "I really had to rely on the team I'd put together. We had no time to spare on the day-of because of the short set-up time allowed." "Normally, I do a production schedule and the set-up is staggered. Usually, vendor A is done before B begins. But this time it all happened at the same time. Still, it worked. Part of that is due to having a great team. As a coordinator, you're only as good as your team." In the end, the wedding came together smoothly, despite the time constraints.
