the people of Hartley Bay and the
Pacific Wild organization, Steve
Williamson had a rare opportunity to
see a spirit bear. "I felt so privileged to
be able to photograph him as he
tucked into the pink salmon he'd just
caught," he says.

She'd planned a whale-watching cruise
in Alaska, but a grizzly bear family
along Highway 3 became the main
event for Crystal McEwan. "I never did
get my humpback whale pictures," she
says, "but I was perfectly content with
my grizzly experience."
