With B.C.'s expanding economy comes a growing demand for energy, and British Columbians are using more energy now than ever before. Just 40 years ago the average house had just two electronic devices, today we have more than 14. Follow us on an electronic journey through time below. 1970 1971 1982 1983 1984 • The average television screen size in 1970 is less than 30 inches. Most households only have one TV. • Televisions use approximately 210 kWh/year. • Remote controls first appear in the market in the late 1970s. • The average household has two electronic items that together use an average of 290 kWh.
