studied and advocated
for indigenous cultures –
and the landscapes they
rely on – around the
world. In between travels, he and his family
can often be found at
their cabin near Todagin
Mountain in northeastern B.C.
"Todagin is home to
the largest population
of Stone sheep in the
world, attracting an
equally impressive concentration of predators –
grizzly bear and wolf,
black bear and wolverine. It is a wildlife sanctuary in the sky,"
he says.
"In all my years as a
park ranger for the B.C.
parks, and in all of my
travels for the National
Geographic Society, I
have never known a place
with such remarkable
wildlife values."
My favourite post-hike
meal is... wild Stikine
salmon, served any way.
My favourite hiking buddies
are... my daughters Tara
and Raina, and my
wife Gail.
