Vancouver was named one of National Geographic magazine's
"Top 10 Beach Cities" alongside Sydney, Honolulu, Barcelona,
Rio, Nice, Cape Town, Miami, Tel Aviv and Santa Monica.
TRAVEL + LEISURE (2013)
In May 2013, Vancouver's 1,000-acre Stanley Park was
recognized as one of world's most beautiful city parks.
In Travel + Leisure's annual "World's Best" awards,
Vancouver was named "best city in Canada" in 2012.
WWF GLOBAL EARTH HOUR CAPITAL (2013)
Vancouver has been named the world's first Global Earth Hour
Capital, one of three prestigious accolades granted to the city
through the internationally recognized World Wildlife Fund
(WWF). The WWF commended Vancouver's commitment to
climate change action, support for local food and progressive
neighbourhood energy plan.
TRAVEL WEEKLY (DECEMBER 2012)
For the 10th year in a row, Vancouver was voted "Best in
Destination: Canada" in Travel Weekly's Readers' Choice Awards
by the magazine's core readership of accredited U.S. travel agents.
MERCER QUALITY OF LIVING RANKING (NOVEMBER 2012)
In Mercer's annual Quality of Living survey, Vancouver topped
the list in North America and ranked fifth in the world. The 2012
edition of Mercer's annual assessment rated 221 cities on 39
dimensions, including culture, crime, education and public services.
