CONTRIBUTORS Cassie Gill is a born-and- raised Vancouverite who thrives on staying in the loop on retail, fashion and pop culture trends. She has written for various publications in both Canada and the U.S., including National Post, ELLE Canada, NUVO and, now, BCBusiness. Her first feature celebrates the 30th anniversary of contemporary jewellery brand Pyrrha (page 11). "Entrepreneur-focused stories are my favourite ones to tell," she says. "I love learning about the journey from idea to fruition." Rob Shaw has been skulking about the corridors of the B.C. legislature for almost two decades now, covering provincial politics. But this is his first story with BCBusiness. He's CHEK-TV's legislative correspondent, a weekly columnist on CBC Radio and hosts the popular podcast/TV show Political Capital. For this issue, he takes a look at the many challenges facing small businesses (page 50). "Small businesses often don't get enough attention from politicians," he says. "Yet they are the lifeblood of the economy. They definitely need more support."
