Prince George set a new
development record in 2024 with
417 building permits issued, totaling
$267 million in value. This growth
signals strong investor confidence in
the city's industrial and commercial
sectors and reinforces its expanding
economic base. Prince George also
generated $65.4 million in hotel
room revenue in 2024, suggesting
a robust tourism sector.
EDUCATION & HEALTHCARE:
ENGINES OF GROWTH
In 2023, UNBC secured $17.7 million
in research funding, and its Northern
Baccalaureate Nursing Program has
been instrumental in addressing
healthcare staffing needs in the region.
Northern Health is undertaking
the expansion of the University
Hospital of Northern British
Columbia (UHNBC) through the
addition of a new Acute Care Tower,
valued at $1.6B. As of early 2025,
the organization employs over
3,200 positions in Prince George.
