NICE TO MEET YOU
Welcome to a new chapter of BCBusiness.
Allow me to introduce myself. I'm the brand-new editor-in-chief at the magazine, and I could not
be happier to arrive just in time to reveal our 2025 Women of the Year recipients —it's our sixth
annual awards honouring 21 incredible individuals who are pushing B.C. forward and taking their
craft to a whole new level.
A little bit about me. I've spent the last 20 years working with traditional media brands before
switching gears and jumping into the world of growing plucky-but-mighty digital startups and
helping them elevate their presence across Canada. And now here I am, jumping headfirst into
the world of magazine publishing. I'm thrilled to take the baton and carry on the 40-plus-year
tradition of incredible storytelling here at BCB.
Early in my career, I produced a half-hour consumer affairs show with the legendary broadcaster
Lynda Steele that aired across Canada on CTV News and the Business News Network (BNN). In many
ways it was trial by fire, bootstrapping 30 minutes of guests and programming together
every week with very limited resources (we're talking about Canadian TV, after all). But
my biggest takeaway from that national TV show was that business reporting doesn't
have to be dry, or dull, in order to convey the news of the day.
The common denominator, for me, was that great business stories really
came from telling the personal narratives of interesting people doing interesting
things, whether it's the innovators breaking new ground, the entrepreneurs
creating something radically different—or the powerhouse leaders absolutely
crushing it in their respective industries. And I can't wait to dive into those
stories here at BCB, with you along for the ride.
So in some ways I feel like it's serendipitous that I joined the mag just in time
to launch this issue, bringing you our 2025 Women of the Year (page 24). This
year's winners range from entrepreneurs to industry leaders in mining,
health care and aviation, but what they have in common is that they are
all examples of excellence in British Columbia, and they each reflect
the hard work, dedication and, frankly, often unconventional journeys
women take to rise to the top of their fields, many of which have been
traditionally male dominated.
I hope you'll enjoy reading this issue as much as we enjoyed creating
it. And if you have ideas about what you'd like to see in future pages of
BCBusiness, I encourage you to reach out with suggestions. I would love
to hear more about the great business stories you think are waiting to be
told in our magazine.

Our Top 100 is back as we rank the biggest companies in B.C. by
revenue. Can a contender unseat Telus this year?
