Richard Littlemore is a
Vancouver-based journalist and
a long-time contributor to this
magazine. As someone who is
in touch with B.C.'s education
industry, Littlemore wanted to
profile UBC's new president in
"Learning on the Job" (p.24). "I've
lived on the edge of academia
for decades, particularly as a
writer of speeches and other
materials for post-secondary
presidents... so it's always a treat
to meet the new players," he
says. "Benoit-Antoine Bacon is
something new, and it will be
exciting to see what he makes
of the opportunity."
Growing up in Nanaimo, Laura
Baldwinson loved to document
the world around her. Her inter-
est in photography was piqued
early, and she pulled that thread
to build a career in the field. The
Vancouver-based photographer
shot B.C. minister Brenda Bailey
for "A Force to Be Reckoned
With" (p.30). "The direction
of the shoot focused on her
long-time passion for all things
Star Wars and how that comes
through in her work," she says.
