CONTRIBUTORS Andrew Macaulay is a New Westminster-based city planner and geographer. This is his sixth time putting together our annual Best Cities for Work in B.C. ranking. "Compiling this year's ranking and article felt especially weighty as the cost of living, climate change and the lingering impacts of COVID-19 provided a complex backdrop compared to prior years," he says. "But it was fascinating to learn how B.C. entrepreneurs are adapting to an evolving business environment." Jennifer Van Evra is an award-winning Vancouver journalist, broadcaster and UBC writing instructor. Her inaugural Business Climate column is about the future of Okanagan wines amid recent crop devastation. "Climate change is hitting the industry hard, and I wanted to speak with people who are on the ground living it," she says. ON THE COVER "We shot this on Sidney's iconic pier, which is a very popular spot with fishermen and families of all ages. After a short delay for the rain, the sun appeared just long enough to photograph Bill before the clouds rolled in again. We really lucked out with the weather." – photographer Lillie Louise Major
