CONTRIBUTORS Longtime food, drink and travel editor for our sister publications Vancouver magazine and Western Living, Neal McLennan has been visiting Maui annually for over a decade, always seeking out a new corner to explore and write about. He put together "The Ultimate Maui Neighbour- hood Guide" (p.53) with a heavy heart. "The fires this summer in Lahaina only underscored what a special part of the world this is and I'm anxious to head back this winter to try to be a small part of helping the island get back on its feet," he says. For our cover illustration and main feature ("This Game Isn't Fun Anymore" p.22), we tapped Vancouver-based illustrator Kyle Scott, who spends his days working in the animation industry and his nights crafting beautiful images—mostly of the city he lives in—both for his Instagram and for various publications. "I love working on stories about British Columbia, as I get to draw from my own references," he says. "These illustrations are inspired by photos I took of English Bay." ON THE COVER With our expert panel predicting economic storms on B.C.'s hori- zon, it might be time to take some measures to ensure you're not the seagull on the buoy. Illustration by Kyle Scott
