A leap forward for
trades education in BC
The imprint BCIT graduates have made on the built
environment across British Columbia is undeniable—as is
our profound connection to the prosperity of the province.
Over the next 10 years, a combination of economic growth,
the impending retirement of a large cohort of tradespeople,
and BC's world-leading aspirations for innovation in
sustainable construction will lead to enormous demand for
skilled workers.
The new Trades and Technology Complex at BCIT will
reimagine applied education, research, and innovation in
trades and technology at our Burnaby Campus. An ambitious
and visionary redevelopment, the Trades and Technology
Complex will increase access, capacity, and capability to
produce the skilled workforce needed to advance BC's
growth and leadership in the trades, technologies, and
applied research fields that power our economy.
"Demand for skilled tradespeople continues
to grow, and the new Trades and Technology
Complex will go a long way to help meet the
building industry's needs for the next generation."
