UNIVERSITIES UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN BRITISH COLUMBIA (UNBC) UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA – HEALTH INFORMATION SCIENCE At UNBC… The awards are here. For the 7th straight year, Maclean's has ranked UNBC the best small school west of Atlantic Canada. We're only one of four-research intensive universities in BC, and last year, students rated us #1 in Canada for our commitment to the environment in the Globe and Mail. The support is here. With some of the smallest class sizes in western Canada, you'll get a top-quality education in a personable environment. Perhaps that's why 94% of our students are satisfied with their program at UNBC. The opportunity is here. 93% of recent graduates from UNBC have found work within their first two years of graduation. Now that's not a bad average. The environment is here. Come to Canada's Green University. Surrounded by over 50 trails for hiking and biking, we're committed to the environment we live in; evident in our academic programming, research, on-campus events and student life. The action is here. Our Northern Sport Centre includes a three-court gym, squash courts, indoor field house with FIFA-approved turf, and an elevated indoor track. We offer 150 international exchange opportunities and more than one Student Life event on campus every week! Health Information Science is the study of how health data are collected, stored and communicated, how those data are processed into health information suitable for administrative and clinical decision making, and how computer and telecommunications technology can be applied to support these processes. A BSc in Health Information Science or a combined major in Computer Science and Health Information Science will give you a qualified "edge" enabling you to have an integral role in information-lead health care. With 100% employment rate, since 1997, our alumni are employed as consultants, managers, system designers, system analysts and researchers with starting salaries typically above $55,000 per year. As a health information science student, you'll bring your studies to life through co-op. Your program includes a mandatory co-op component that lets you alternate your academic terms with three paid co-op terms working for health care employers. 3333 University Way Prince George, BC V2N 4Z9 Tel: 250.960.6306 unbc4u@unbc.ca www.unbc.ca/whyunbc 10 > YOUTHINK PS > FALL 2012 p06-12_YPS-Sept12.indd 10 Now offering entry in September and January – Apply Now http://www.uvic.ca/hsd/hinf/ or email his@uvic.ca Health Information Science University of Victoria PO Box 3050 STN CSC Victoria, BC V8W 3P5 250.721.8575 his@uvic.ca http://www.uvic.ca/hsd/hinf/ YOUTHINK.CA 12-09-05 9:36 AM
